The
mission of the John
Lloyd Leonard Memorial Golf Tournament is
to provide financial help to Children’s
Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota
to be constantly on the edge of medical
technology and development, and to
help children and families during their
stays.
The first annual John Lloyd Leonard Memorial Golf Tournament was held in September 2002 and since then proceeds of $103,500 have been given to Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota. This money has been used for the new catheterization laboratory (John would have benefited from this laboratory during his stay), for patients and families in the PICU at Children’s - Minneapolis (John spent all of his time here) and towards a family sleep room (space for families to use during their stay) and a new research program headed by Dr. Overman (John's Cardiac Surgeon) among a few. The annual golf event helps children, like John, born with heart defects and other complications. Today, one out of every 125 children are born with a heart defect. Our goal for this year’s event is to raise another $22,000 — putting our 7 year total to over $125,000!
